Dear Care Staff:
Anderson died at Eden Village January 12th after six months in the nursing home. His family members visited often, almost daily, sometimes for short visits, sometimes nearly the whole day. Everyone we encountered at Eden – nurses, aides, therapists, social service staff, receptionists, laundry and housekeeping staff, maintenance – without exception treated us and Anderson with courtesy and compassion. The residents we met, too, were friendly and kind.
Although I realize the risk in naming individuals, the danger in leaving out someone, I think it’s worth trying to specify those who had the most contact with Anderson because they were so good to him and so thorough in giving care. And I hope this letter will serve as a THANK YOU to them.
On Hall 5, his usual nurses Marion and Sheryl B. showed genuine concern, watched over his condition, were cognizant of his symptoms, and came right away to see his needs any time we asked. Sylvia and Tom were usually assigned to him, sometimes Morgan, earlier Patricia and Mary B: each one gave excellent care, treated him with respect and kindness. On Hall 3, he had Sandy, and Mike, Rob, and Chuck, Toni at night: by the time he moved to 3, he was totally helpless and barely talked, rarely talked. Yet his nurses took extra effort to check on him, ascertain his needs, and meet them. Sandy called me several times to alert me to his condition during that time. The aides there were usually Michelle, Brenda, Lamar, and Jarrett, sometimes Krissy and Morgan. Everyone on 3 took good care of Andy, difficult as that was, told him what they were doing, spoke with kindness and respect, kept him clean and comfortable. Others, too less frequently his caretakers, would come to speak to him, josh a little, and give comfort and humor, like Jessica and Robin.
The therapists gave him opportunity to move a little for as long as possible. Lena offered knowledgeable advice at several crucial times while Andy was at Eden, helping me to make better decisions about what to do for him.
Anderson’s last moments on earth were comfortable and peaceful that morning of January 12th. At 7:00 a.m. Toni called me at home to tell me his time was short; I came about 9:00. The Hospice nurse was there for awhile. Patricia administered medication to alleviate breathing spasms and any discomfort, and she came in to check on him every few minutes. Lamar, too, was in the room frequently to see if he needed anything, to be sure he was clean and comfortable. At the exact second Anderson stopped breathing, Lamar was there. This is the most difficult time for family: Lamar and Patricia were absolutely perfect in what they did and said. Words fail in expressing appreciation to the two of them for being so perfect in their care for Anderson at the very end.
I’m sending this letter to Pam, hoping she will be sure all of the people to whom I owe so much will at least see that I did take notice and do appreciate. Pam was a great help when I needed guidance and information: thank you!
So, may god bless all of you at Eden as all of you have blessed Anderson and me and our numerous family members who visited him.
Sincerely,
Karen W.
All the Staff at Eden Village,
Our family would like to tank each of you for the love, kindness and respect you have given to Walter and continue to give to Miriam. You have touched our hearts and those of us that live far away are comforted by the fact that our dear loved one will still be well taken care of. Each of you probably has a story of how Walter brightened your day or touched your heart, but we know that he has countless stories of how you have done the same for him. He saw most of you as family and always sang your praises. Thanks to those who visited Walt in the hospital and lovingly embraces our family in sympathy. You truly are exceptional caregivers and for that we cannot thank you enough!
God Bless,
Walter and Miriam’s Family
Thank You So Much,
Your kindness to my family and myself as well as my wife Nadine will never be forgotten. The love of God will always be with you always. I pray that his grace and glorious goodness toward you will never cease. Matthew 25:31-46 The good things that was done to us will also be done to Jesus Christ.
My family and I do thank all of you for the tender care that Nadine received while she was a patient at Eden Village. May our Heavenly Father bless the nurses, CNA's, and others for being kind to her. She was helpless and was dependent on others to look after her. Now she is in Paradise not Heaven until Jesus comes back again. Luke 16:19-31 – 1st Corinthian 15:35-58 Then she will go to Heaven. Matthew 25:31-46
